这些词（组）有一个共同特点,就是都有other这个词.在它前面加上了冠词（an,the),或后面加了S,而变成了五种形式.
other可以作限定词,也可以作代词,也就是说,它后面可以有名词,也可以没有.
1.
other 前面没有冠词,后面也没有S,只能是个限定词,也就是后面必须有名词,一般是复数名词如：other people 其他人,别人.

others 是other加了S,相当于other+名词.一般=other poeple"别人”,有上下文时,也可以指别的什么东西（这时前面应有the,则是后面讨论的对象）,如：He is always ready to help others.他总是乐于助人.

the other 是在other前加了个定冠词,可单独用,也可以后面再跟一个名词.表示特定的两个事物（人物）中的另一个.如：I have two friends.One is Liping.The other is Tom.

another 实质上是other前加上了个不定冠词an,原来是分开写的两个单词,后来才合二为一的.所以它后面一定是跟一个可数名词单数的.或单独代替一个可数名词单数.表示众多事物中的另一个比如：I don't like this coat.Please show me another (coat).

the others 是others前加上了定冠词,表示特定的别的人或物（是复数概念）.=the other+复复数名词.

一般another后面会加数量词，例如I'd like to have another one.，而other 后面一般加名词而且是名词复数，例如you can ask other students.
other 和others 比较好区别，一个形容词“其他的”一个是名词“其他人”

another通常是指另一个（不是特定的） eg：I want another apple.
other通常指其他，后面一半加名词 eg：Other students are in the classroom now.
others也表示其他，但不与名词连用，时常考Some……，others…… （有一个大范围的一群人，分为了两个部分）
