The Sultanate of Oman.
Oman,a country in the Gulf region,is rich with reserves of petroleum and natural gas.It lies between latitudes 16° and 28° N,and longitudes 52° and 60° E.Its climate is hot and dry in the interior and humid along the coast.Muscat is the capital city of Oman and one of the main economic hubs in the Middle East,and there are a good number of Indians and Pakistanis living and working there.
Oman is a country friendly to foreigners.There are lots of emerging opportunities in Oman for foreigners such as construction jobs,engineering jobs,banking jobs,insurance career and teaching jobs,in addition to Oman's traditional employment opportunities.
Since the slump in oil prices in 1998,Oman has made active plans to diversify its economy and is placing a greater emphasis on other areas like tourism.The wide range of contrasting landscapes characterizes the country and creates habitats for a wealth of wildlife.Tourism aimed specifically at those who are interested in the natural environment,or eco-tourism,may be the keystone to the future of the industry in Oman.
Oman has an long-term development strategy for diversifying the sources of national income and reducing dependence on oil.The government has set a free-trade agreement with the United States,which took effect 1 January 2009,aiming at eliminating tariff barriers on all consumer and industrial products and providing strong protections for foreign businesses investing in Oman."Vision 2020" is a plan for Oman's economic future up to the year 2020,outlining the country's goals both in domestic development and global cooperation.
