news表示新闻的意思,
new有新的、新鲜的、新近的等意思,那么news就可以表示很多新鲜的东西的意思,而新闻反映的本来也就是新近发生的、新鲜的事情
个人觉得：new是新的意思，不是很多词在后面直接加个s就使许多形容词变成了具有这种形容意思的名词了吗，然后news也一样，加了以后就变成了新的事物的意思。
1622年创刊的英国《每周新闻》则以北（North）、东（east）、西（West）、南（South）四字的第一个字母拼成News来解释“新闻”一词，意指四面八方的消息
