It is apparent that the Dual Bypass GMAW method as tested on steel plates is feasible.
The ultimate goal of this research is to provide a new process to weld the LANL’s aluminum rings with a minimal heat input without significantly compromising the productivity.The ring contains a groove which requires machining to produce.In this present study,aluminum cylinders with 0.32mm (0.125 inch) wall thickness and 16.5mm (6.5 inch) OD are used to conduct experiments for process and welding procedure developments before actual rings are joined.
